Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about consultations, referrals and visiting the clinic.
Do I need a GP referral to book a consultation?
Not if you’re paying for yourself: you can book directly. If you’re using private medical insurance, your insurer will usually want a GP referral and a pre-authorisation code before your first appointment. Check with them before you book, or they may not cover the cost.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring any MRI or X-ray scans you already have, a list of your current medications and a short note about treatments you’ve tried. None of these is essential. If you don’t have any imaging, Dr Yasser Mehrez can talk with you about whether you need further investigations.
Is parking available at the Harley Street clinic?
Parking near Harley Street is on-street and paid by phone. The street is inside the Congestion Charge zone, so you’ll usually need to pay the charge if you drive in during the day. The nearest Tube stations are Regent’s Park and Great Portland Street.
How can I check that Dr Yasser Mehrez is properly registered?
You can look him up on the General Medical Council’s online register using his registration number, 5171889. It shows he is licensed to practise and on the Specialist Register. The hospitals where he consults are all registered with the Care Quality Commission, which inspects hospitals rather than individual doctors.

Can I have a video consultation instead of visiting a clinic?
Yes. Dr Yasser Mehrez offers video consultations for a first assessment, a review or a second opinion. If you need a hands-on procedure, he’ll arrange an appointment in person at Harley Street or one of his other clinics.
